Within Tours in Cusco we have the tour to the 7 lagoons of Ausangate, you will know the lagoons: Otorongo Macho, Otorongo hembra, Puca cocha, Alqa cocha, Ccomer cocha, Azul cocha and Pata cocha.

This is a full day tour, you will be able to observe the landscapes, the mountains, the Andean fauna such as alpacas and llamas and the lagoons that have different colors ranging from turquoise, green and even red. After visiting the lagoons, we will go to the community of Pacchanta, where there are hot springs with medicinal properties, where you can also bathe if you wish.

This circuit of 7 lagoons is located approximately 100 kilometers by road from the city of Cusco. The town of Pacchanta, where these lakes are located, is 4,200 meters above sea level. At the top you can see the Ausangate Peak from where the ice that forms these lagoons descends.

Trip Summary

  • 4:00 AM: Pick-up from your hotel in Cusco and drive to the trailhead near Ausangate.
  • 6:00 AM: Begin the trek with a gradual ascent through rugged Andean landscapes.
  • 8:00 AM: Pass by the first Ausangate Lake, with stunning views of the snow-capped peaks.
  • 10:00 AM: Continue hiking towards the second and third lakes, surrounded by high-altitude flora and fauna.
  • 12:00 PM: Lunch break overlooking the colorful Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains.
  • 1:00 PM: Explore the Palccoyo Rainbow Mountains, known for their unique geological formations.
  • 3:00 PM: Trek back towards the starting point, descending through picturesque valleys.
  • 5:00 PM: Return to Cusco and drop-off at your hotel.

DAY 1:

Tour 7 Ausangate Lakes

Important: The schedules are referential, one day before the tour our operations team will contact you one day before to reconfirm the schedules.

The Laguna Humantay Tour starts from the door of your hotel in the center of Cusco (historic center) and ends in the center of Cusco, Plaza Regocijo or Plaza San Francisco.

Between 04:00am and 04:30am we will be passing by the doors of your hotels, if you are in a remote area or airbnb we will arrange a meeting point to leave from Cusco.

4:30 hrs. Start of the Ausangate 7 Lagunas Tour.

We will meet at the established departure point or pick you up at your hotel if you are in the center of the city. And we will go to the community of Pacchanta, located at 4300 meters above sea level.

7:30 hrs. Arrival to Pacchanta.

We will have breakfast in Pacchanta, then we will start the trekking to the 7 lagoons on foot, we will walk for a total of 3 hours and 40 minutes (this is the round trip to the community), where we will visit the following lagoons: Otorongo Macho, Otorongo Hembra, Puca Cocha, Alqa Cocha, Qomer cocha, Azul cocha and Pata cocha.

The following mountains can also be observed: Ausangate, Mariposa, Jampa, Pucapunta, Caracol, Tinke and Qayangate.

We will then return to the community for lunch.

14:00 hrs. Lunch at Pacchanta

After lunch you have the option to visit the Medicinal Hot Springs (optional) or explore the city on your own.

18:30 hrs. Return to Cusco
