Basilica Cathedral of Cusco.

We start the City Tour Cusco Peru visiting the Cathedral of Cusco, the church of the Holy Family, and the church of the Triumph, undoubtedly one of the most remarkable colonial monuments of America, its facade is Renaissance style and contrasts with the Baroque where there remains an admirable collection of paintings, goldsmiths and silversmiths.

The Qoricancha

Known as “golden enclosure”. The Qoricancha is located a few meters from the Plaza de Armas, was the most important and respected temple in the Inca era. Today it is known as the colonial temple of Santo Domingo.

Sacsayhuaman

Strategically built on a hill from where you can see all of Cusco. Sacsayhuaman is located 2 km north of the city of Cusco, was a religious center of great importance. Its construction, built on large blocks of limestone rock joined with absolute precision, some of which are 9 meters or 30 feet high and weigh more than 350 tons. In this place is celebrated every year the Inti Raymi (feast of the sun).

Qenqo

Located four kilometers northeast of the city of Cusco. “Qenqo” is a Quechua word that means in Spanish “zigzag”. This enclosure played a purely religious role. The exterior amphitheater has a semicircular shape with trapezoidal niches and we can find a monolith that simulates a puma measuring approximately six meters.

Puca Pucará

It is located 6 km from the city of Cusco. Puca Pucara means “red fortress”. This archaeological center fulfilled the role of military control and was part of the defense system of Cusco.

Tambomachay
