Trip Summary

Day 1: Cusco – Abra Malaga – Santa Teresa – Aguas Calientes

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Itinerary

DAY 1:

Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Abra Málaga – Santa Teresa – Aguas Caliente

At 7:00 the private van will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to start the tour. Once we leave the city you will begin to admire the landscapes of the Sacred Valley. The extensive hills of low vegetation, the red clay hills of Urubamba, eucalyptus trees everywhere along the way and authentic villages and communities of the Quechua region.

During day 1, we will pass through the village of Ollantaytambo (2792 m.) The village which gives you a better understanding and a real picture of the life, buildings and culture of the local people. We will continue along the trail to the top of the mountains.After leaving the valley of Ollantaytambo, you will get a peak of snowy landscapes with almost no vegetation and fog around.On the way to Abra Malaga at 4320 m above sea level you will pass through this area which is usually covered with thick clouds, snow or rain.

Afterwards, we will arrive at Santa Teresa where we will have lunch and finally reach Hidroeléctrica. After a couple of hours of hiking, we will be in Aguas Calientes, the town adjacent to Machu Picchu. You will spend the night there and have the rest of the day to relax in the town or in the hot springs (not included) before visiting the Inca wonder.

After a night’s rest at your hostel in Aguas Calientes, very early in the morning we will start walking to Machu Picchu. For those who do not feel climbed, there are bus services that will take you to Machu Picchu in 30 minutes, in this case, you must take the first bus to meet the rest of the group for the guided tour.

Once everyone is up, it is time for the guided tour to Machu Picchu with our professional guide.

The tour through the temples, houses, agricultural terraces, courtyards and every corner of Machu Picchu will leave you speechless. Don’t be afraid to ask questions to your guide, feel free, our team is here for you to complete your trip! After the guided tour, you will have your own free time to continue exploring the ruins, take more incredible pictures or just enjoy the mystique and tranquility of Machu Picchu.

The return to Cusco will start from Puente Ruinas. We will walk to Hidroeléctrica where we will take the transportation. We will start traveling back to Cusco and arrive in Cusco around 10.00 pm.
