Travel Guide

The availability of the Inca Trail:

The Inca Trail is closed every year in February for maintenance; therefore it is not available this month. The spaces indicated on this page are for the departure date of the 2 or 4 day hike (day 1). It does not matter if the other days are sold out or out of season. You can start your hike on any date marked in green.

Availability is controlled by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture. Only they can manage and authorize access to the Inca Trail. Access to the 4-day Inca Trail is limited to 500 people per day, including staff. For this reason, the number of spaces available on this page corresponds to spaces for hikers, i.e. 40% of the total (approximately 60% is for trekking staff). The 2-day Inca Trail is limited to 250 people per day and 100% of the spaces are reserved for hikers.

Reservations are for the current season (until December 31, 2020). For the next season 2021 we invite you to book your hike in advance.

For practical reasons, it is not possible to make reservations less than 480 hours before departure or with less than 50 spaces available.

If you wish, you can subscribe to receive by email the availability or be informed once the new season starts Machu Picchu Inca Trail 2023.
