Itinerary

DAY 1:

Sacred Valley Tour from Cusco 1 day

This tour begins at approximately 08:00 a.m. and ends at 19:00 hrs. We will pick you up at your hotel and then transfer to the northeast of the city of Cusco to start the guided tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

The first point of visit of the tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas will be the archaeological center of Pisac, located 32 km northeast of Cusco at 3250 m.a.s.l. on the top of the mountain. The Inca constructions of Pisac are admirable for their polished stone structures, perfectly assembled; they are surrounded by viewpoints or observation and defense points, and the presence of innumerable terraces.

In Pisac you will learn about the advanced architecture of the Incas. Many thought it was a fortress but now we know that it was a “royal estate” that belonged to the Inca Pachacutec. Pisac is composed of terraces, domestic structures and aqueducts. In Pisac you should visit its handicraft market, where you can buy beautiful and unique souvenirs.

At noon we will have a buffet lunch in Urubamba; you will enjoy traditional Peruvian food. Urubamba was known for being one of the main agricultural centers of the Inca Empire. Today, the best corn in the world is harvested there.

Continuing with the tour to the Sacred Valley of the Incas from Cusco. After midday, we will visit the Ollantaytambo fortress which became an important strategic military center, as well as the agricultural and religious centers necessary to control the entire Sacred Valley of the Incas. This archaeological site was built as an overlapping terrace with huge carved stones.

On the way back to Cusco, we will visit Chinchero, a town known for the Church of Our Lady of Monserrat, built over the palace of Tupac Yupanqui in 1607, and we will also visit its traditional market, as well as observe the andenería.

The inhabitants of this area have maintained their customs and clothing, their main economic activity is agriculture and livestock. In Chinchero you can also see demonstrations of textile production.

End of the Sacred Valley Tour from Cusco 1 day.
